In this post, I am going to cover the CCNA concept and objectives
that is designed by CISCO for CCNA exam with supportive information. This post
will take you through CCNA terms and definition, the benefits and the hardware
you will encounter in the course of CCNA training programme.
In CISCO wall, there are three level of certifications
1.
The first one is the associate level. The
associate level has two categories.
CCNA – Cisco certified network associate
CCDA – Cisco certified design associate.
Here there is only one exam that is involve and it last for
the duration of 75mins with 45 to 55 questions given.
2.
The second level is the professional level which
also has two categories
CCNP - Cisco Certified
Network Professional
CCDP - Cisco Certified
Design Professional
3.
The highest level is the expert level
CCIE – Cisco Certified internetwork Expert
Benefits of CCNA Certification
Peer validation This
helps you to get good understanding as to where you are in the industry among
other people that do the same kind of job. There are two reasons for doing that
First is for personal
reason this helps you like I said earlier to get a better understand as to
where u are and set your path in the right direction for the right carrier and second reason is for Potential employer, in this, you differentiate yourself from the
pack for a potential employer. Certification helps differentiate you from the
pack because employers tends to look at distinct skill in a employees that
singles them out from the crowd and certification is a sure bet.
Career Advancement.
This can happen within or outside the company. Getting certified pushes you
through and up in the hierarchy of a company, you will always be considered
first.
The last on the list is directional
study. This directs you to lay the foundation of a building before putting
up a structure and then finally the roof. What I am implying here is that CCNA
is the foundation in cisco networking and CCNP the structure while CCIE is the
roof. When acquired in this directional order You will totally be grounded.
HARDWARE
There are three layers here in cisco hardware. The 3rd
layer / network layer is the highest level and uses routers. The routers are
divided into two groups, the higher routers and Access product. In the 2nd
layer or datalink layer is switches and bridges. The switches make use of WAN (Wide
Area Network) and LAN (Local Area Network). While the 1st layer or
the physical layer and also the lowest level uses cable as shown in the
pictures below.
